This started out as a thread on the groundpeak.com forums. gnbrotz wanted a "old broken GPS" for his son, and no one was really helping, so here is what I did.
We started out with a cad model. Did our first cuts. We could do this in 2 setups.
Then we cut it out and sanded it Then we painted it. We let it dry for a couple days, cut a polycarbonate screen, placed some screws to hold the display in. The display is changeable. Unscrew the three screws. Put in a new photocopied screen from your manual, new screen!!
Then we shipped it out to Noah and Dad. The only strings attached were 1) When Noah outgrew the toy GPS, Dad had to give it to someone in the same situation he was in. 2) When someone asks for a hand doing something, he has to help...No questions asked. Noah..Enjoy geocaching with Dad |
